Columbia, SC – Strong winds and freezing temperatures are set to impact South Carolina early this week, with a major cold front moving in. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory through Monday evening, warning of gusts up to 45 mph, potentially causing power outages and travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will see scattered showers and thunderstorms before noon, followed by clearing skies. Highs will reach 68°F, but strong southwest winds will make driving hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles.
By Monday (Washington’s Birthday), expect a sharp drop in temperatures, with highs around 54°F under sunny skies. Overnight lows will plummet to 31°F, bringing the first wave of Arctic air.
Tuesday and Wednesday bring even colder conditions. Highs will struggle to reach the mid-40s, with 90% chance of rain by midweek. Overnight lows could drop into the low 20s, making roads icy and dangerous.
Drivers should prepare for low visibility, fallen tree limbs, and possible power outages. Secure loose objects, use caution on the roads, and bundle up—this week’s forecast signals winter’s last major punch.
