Renovations at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook are progressing smoothly, with the building set to reopen its doors to the public on Saturday, May 3. The revamped facility, part of the Forest Preserve District of Will County, will offer enhanced accessibility and comfort for visitors.

According to Forest Preserve Executive Director Ralph Schultz, the building’s new design includes updates aimed at making the space more welcoming for the community. He emphasized that while the renovations improve the building’s functionality, it will be the new programming that truly brings the facility to life. “That’s what’s going to make the space special,” Schultz said.

To celebrate the reopening, an “Oak-tacular Comeback Celebration” will be held at the nature center from noon to 4 p.m. on May 3. The event will include a variety of activities and will mark the culmination of a project designed to revitalize the former Bolingbrook Park District site.

In addition to the renovation of the center itself, the Hidden Oaks Preserve area surrounding the center is also undergoing improvements. Construction has temporarily closed the nature trail and adjacent areas for safety reasons, but these, along with the parking lot and shelter, will also reopen on May 3.

Hidden Oaks Nature Center’s reopening promises a bright future with new exhibits, nature programs, and immersive activities for nature enthusiasts of all ages.
