Blue Grass, IA – A 71-year-old man from Muscatine was killed Monday night after his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole north of Blue Grass.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m. at the intersection of 165th Street and 70th Avenue, a rural area just north of Blue Grass. Deputies say the man was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue southbound on 70th Avenue when he crossed the center line, went off the east side of the roadway, and entered a ditch.
The vehicle became airborne and struck a utility pole before landing on the driver’s side. Authorities confirmed the driver, who was wearing his seatbelt, died from his injuries at the scene.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending family notification.
