Burlington, VT – An extended period of unsettled weather will continue across northern Vermont and upstate New York through Tuesday, April 1, bringing scattered rain and snow showers along with below-normal temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, daily high temperatures across the region will hover between the upper 30s and mid-40s, with overnight lows dipping into the 20s in many locations. Cities such as Island Pond, Gouverneur, and Malone are expected to see snow accumulation, especially in higher elevations.

The pattern, typical for late March, will bring fluctuating temperatures with possible wintry mix conditions. Areas like Lake Placid and Tupper Lake may experience highs no greater than 43°F and lows near 20°F through early next week. Burlington and Montpelier will remain slightly warmer, with daytime highs reaching into the mid-40s by Monday.

Travelers should exercise caution on untreated roadways, especially during morning hours when refreezing is possible. Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and consider delaying non-essential travel in mountain areas.

Temperatures are expected to gradually moderate by mid-next week, with Tuesday forecasted as the potential turning point toward more seasonable conditions.
