Blue Earth County, MN – A North Mankato man was arrested early Sunday morning after a Union Pacific train hit his vehicle on County Road 114. Deputies responded to the scene around 2:24 a.m. after reports of the crash near Highway 60.

Authorities identified the driver as 53-year-old Richmond Lamar Clark, who had exited the vehicle before it was struck by the train. Clark told deputies he attempted a U-turn when his 2020 Hyundai Tucson became stuck on the train tracks.

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Clark was arrested for first-degree DWI test refusal, first-degree DWI, and violation of license restrictions for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock system. No one was injured in the crash, though the vehicle is considered a total loss.

Clark remains in custody at the Blue Earth County Jail, awaiting his initial court appearance. The incident is under investigation, but officials have confirmed no train personnel were injured, and no additional damage occurred on the tracks.
