
CHICAGO, IL – The remains of U.S. Army Pfc. Robert Bryant, a WWII soldier who was reported missing in action 81 years ago, will be transported to his childhood hometown of Bloomington, Illinois, today for a full military burial.
Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 5 announced they will assist with traffic control for the motorcade, which is set to leave Midway Airport in Chicago at 1:00 PM today. The motorcade will proceed southbound on I-55, with Bryant’s remains on their way to the Calvert & Meltzer Memorial Funeral Home in Bloomington.
According to ISP, travelers along the route are urged to slow down and use extra caution, as the procession will include full military honors. The route will take Bryant’s remains south through Cicero Avenue to I-55, exiting at Veterans Parkway in Bloomington. The procession will then continue on Washington Street before concluding at the funeral home, located at 1115 E. Washington Street.
Pfc. Bryant, who was killed in action during WWII, will be laid to rest with full military honors in his hometown, bringing closure to his family and the community after decades of uncertainty.
