Glasgow, MT – A blizzard warning and a winter weather advisory have been issued for portions of eastern Montana, as hazardous winter conditions are set to impact the region starting Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service in Glasgow announced the blizzard warning will take effect from 6 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday, with conditions expected to deteriorate rapidly. A winter weather advisory will follow, remaining in place from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

According to the NWS, snowfall of up to 5 inches combined with northwest winds gusting as high as 55 mph will create blizzard conditions, particularly in Dawson, McCone, Prairie, Richland, and Wibaux counties. Visibility may drop below 1/4 mile at times, especially in elevated areas such as the Big Sheeps and Wibaux County.

Drivers are urged to reconsider travel plans during the storm. The hazardous conditions are likely to impact Monday morning commutes, with slippery roads and drifting snow creating additional risks.

The NWS recommends carrying a winter storm kit, including tire chains, flashlights, blankets, and extra clothing, in case of emergencies.

Residents are advised to exercise caution outdoors, as icy surfaces may lead to slips and falls.
