Blacksburg, VA – A winter storm is expected to bring up to 8 inches of snow to parts of Virginia by Monday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Watauga County and Western Greenbrier, effective from early Sunday through Monday at 7 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin accumulating by Sunday morning, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday night. Watauga County is forecasted to receive 3 to 6 inches, while Western Greenbrier may see up to 8 inches. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph, increasing the risk of power outages from snow-laden tree limbs.
Officials warn that roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous, posing dangers for drivers. Travel during this period is discouraged, especially during the Monday morning commute.
