Nashville, TN – Thanksgiving travelers across Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia should prepare for hazardous weather conditions beginning next week. Forecasters warn of heavy snow and strong winds, which could cause widespread travel disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service, a broad low-pressure system is expected to bring unsettled weather between November 27 and December 3. Tennessee and Kentucky face a moderate (40-60%) chance of heavy precipitation, with some areas seeing snowfall accumulation and high winds. Wind chills may plummet below freezing, creating dangerous conditions for outdoor activities.

West Virginia could also experience snow and gusty winds, especially in higher elevations. Travel during November 27-28, one of the busiest periods, could become treacherous due to reduced visibility and slick roads. A slight (20-40%) chance of heavy snow is predicted across the Ohio Valley and into the Appalachian region.

Experts advise travelers to monitor weather updates closely and allow extra travel time. Packing emergency kits with blankets and supplies is also recommended. Additional updates will become available as the storm approaches.
