Macon, GA โ€“ A Bibb County Sheriffโ€™s deputy arrested a driver accused of traveling 81 mph in a 45-mph zone on Riverside Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

The department said Patrol Division Deputy John Kile initiated the traffic stop after clocking the Toyota Camry at nearly twice the posted speed limit. During the stop, Kile reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

According to the sheriffโ€™s report, the driver allegedly tested over the legal limit on a breathalyzer test. The motorist was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Bibb County Sheriffโ€™s Office Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Authorities remind drivers that โ€œsuper speederโ€ violations โ€” defined by Georgia law as driving 75 mph or more on two-lane roads or 85 mph and above on any road โ€” carry additional fines and penalties.

The sheriffโ€™s office has not released the driverโ€™s name as of publication.
