Macon, GA – A Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a driver accused of traveling 81 mph in a 45-mph zone on Riverside Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The department said Patrol Division Deputy John Kile initiated the traffic stop after clocking the Toyota Camry at nearly twice the posted speed limit. During the stop, Kile reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s report, the driver allegedly tested over the legal limit on a breathalyzer test. The motorist was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Authorities remind drivers that “super speeder” violations — defined by Georgia law as driving 75 mph or more on two-lane roads or 85 mph and above on any road — carry additional fines and penalties.

The sheriff’s office has not released the driver’s name as of publication.
