Berkeley County, WV – A late-night traffic stop in Berkeley County resulted in a drug arrest after deputies allegedly found multiple narcotics inside a vehicle near Hedgesville Road, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy C.S. Merson responded around 9:21 p.m. on January 9 to reports of a possibly impaired driver traveling eastbound in the 9100 block of Hedgesville Road. Authorities say the deputy observed signs of intoxicated driving and initiated a traffic stop near Interstate 81, with assistance from Deputy Jason Miller.

According to the sheriff’s department, the driver—identified as 43-year-old Crystal Ann Burch of Berkeley Springs—was allegedly found with narcotics paraphernalia in plain view. Deputies say a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was located in her coat pocket.

A further search reportedly uncovered two additional baggies of methamphetamine, one baggie of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, Alprazolam pills, a digital scale, and packaging materials associated with drug distribution.

Burch was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Cocaine. She was remanded to Eastern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond, according to officials.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to report any narcotics activity or suspicious behavior by calling 304-267-7000 or submitting a tip online.
