Villa Park, IL – The Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School (BBCHS) Girls Flag Football team has secured a spot in the IHSA State Final Four after an exciting 22-20 victory. The team, which has performed strongly throughout the inaugural girls flag football season, is set to face Palatine Fremd at 11 a.m. today. A win could advance them to a final showdown for the state championship later in the day, with games scheduled for this afternoon.
This marks an impressive season for the Bradley-Bourbonnais squad, which finished the regular season with a 16-2 record. The team has dominated opponents, outscoring them by an average of 22 points per game. Their journey to the state finals continued with a significant 42-22 win over Country Club Hills on October 16 in the sectional finals, securing their place among the top teams in Illinois.
According to the IHSA, the 2024-2025 inaugural season of girls flag football saw 154 schools participate, with more than 3,000 games played statewide. Chicago area teams made up half of the participating schools, but programs across Illinois, including those from Joliet, Kankakee, Tinley Park, and Peoria, also competed. The IHSA has hailed this season as a success in growing opportunities for female athletes in football.
Bradley-Bourbonnais’s next test will come against a strong Palatine Fremd team, but the BBCHS players have shown resilience throughout the season. Head Coach Tremaine Turner has led the team with a balanced approach, combining a powerful offense and disciplined defense. Junior quarterback Elise Munsterman has been a standout, throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns in the last game, including a key touchdown pass to senior receiver Suttyn Hop.
