Baltimore, MD – A sharp drop in temperatures and gusty winds will bring dangerous wind chills to much of Maryland tonight, with snow likely to follow Friday evening into Saturday. Residents should prepare for lows in the single digits, creating hazardous outdoor conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, winds will persist through Thursday with gusts of up to 34 mph, making Thursday’s high of 31°F feel significantly colder. A Gale Watch remains in effect for areas near the Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac River through early Thursday evening. Snow is expected to develop Friday night, potentially disrupting weekend travel across the region.
The five-day forecast indicates sunny but frigid weather on Thursday, with highs near 31°F and lows around 22°F. Friday will bring a brief reprieve with partly sunny skies, but snow is likely after midnight, accompanied by lows near 26°F. Accumulations may cause slippery conditions on Maryland roadways, including I-95 and local highways.
By Saturday morning, snow showers will likely continue before tapering off in the afternoon. Highs will reach 37°F, but slick roads may persist. Sunday will offer relief with sunny skies and a high near 36°F.
Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure tonight, secure loose outdoor items due to high winds, and monitor local advisories for updates on snow totals and road conditions.
