Austin, Texas – Temperatures across Central Texas are warming today under mostly sunny skies, following a colder start to the morning.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Austin–San Antonio, southwest winds are developing across the region, helping afternoon temperatures rise into the mid to upper 50s and lower 60s. Light winds early Sunday will shift to southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph by the afternoon hours.

Forecasters said today will feel noticeably warmer than recent mornings, with only thin high clouds expected. Travel along major corridors such as Interstate 35, Interstate 10, Loop 410, and U.S. Highway 290 is not expected to be impacted by weather conditions.

Looking ahead, the warming trend is expected to continue into early next week. Most days after today are forecast to be warmer than normal for early February, with highs steadily climbing across the Austin–San Antonio corridor.

A weak cold front is expected to move through the region on Tuesday, bringing isolated rain chances, mainly east of Interstate 35. Rain amounts are expected to remain light, with no severe weather anticipated at this time.

Behind the front, temperatures will cool slightly but remain seasonably mild, with no significant cold air outbreaks currently forecast. The overall pattern favors dry conditions for much of the upcoming week.

For commuters, students, and outdoor workers, Sunday’s weather offers favorable conditions, especially during the afternoon hours as temperatures rebound from the chilly morning start.

The National Weather Service noted that forecast confidence remains high through midweek, though rain chances and temperatures may be adjusted as the Tuesday system approaches.

Additional updates will be issued as conditions evolve across Central Texas.
