Atlanta, Georgia – Locally heavy rain and flash flooding could impact morning commutes and low-lying roads across north and central Georgia through early Monday as tropical moisture continues to dump 1–3 inches of rain over the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms will persist through tonight, with isolated higher rainfall totals possibly exceeding 3 inches in spots. Flash flooding is the main concern, particularly across Metro Atlanta, Macon, Athens, and surrounding counties where the ground is already saturated.

The risk doesn’t end Monday. Intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected daily through at least Wednesday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Tuesday and Wednesday both carry an 80% chance of rain for the Atlanta area, with downpours capable of overwhelming drainage systems.

Travelers should plan for slower commutes, avoid flooded roads, and keep devices charged in case of power outages. Conditions may improve slightly by late week, but forecasters warn that isolated storms could still pop up into Saturday.

Rain chances remain high through midweek. Stay tuned for additional flood advisories or storm warnings as conditions evolve.
