Bourbonnais, IL – A Kankakee man’s attempt to sell gym shoes on Christmas Day led to a robbery and a subsequent arrest in Bourbonnais.
According to Kankakee City Police, the incident occurred just before 7:30 PM on Christmas night. The victim had arranged to meet a buyer for the gym shoes at a residence in the 500 block of S. Harrison Ave. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when one of the two men who arrived at the meeting allegedly pulled a gun on the victim and forcibly took the shoes. Police later executed a search warrant at an apartment on Gettysburg Drive in Bourbonnais just before noon on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of 21-year-old Jaylon Perkins of Bourbonnais.Â
Perkins faces multiple charges, including armed robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to address gun-related crimes and ensure public safety in the region.
