Shreveport, Louisiana – Hot and humid conditions will dominate the ArkLaTex today, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid and upper 90s while scattered thunderstorms develop across parts of the Four State Region. The greatest opportunity for rainfall will be from southern Arkansas into northeast Louisiana, where storms could briefly cool temperatures but also produce lightning and locally heavy rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, afternoon highs will range from around 92 degrees in Hope, Arkansas, and Jonesboro, Louisiana, to 97 degrees in Longview, Texas, with 95 degrees expected in Shreveport, Texarkana, Clarksville, Natchitoches, Monroe, and Homer. Rain chances remain isolated across much of East Texas but increase to around 30% to 40% across southern Arkansas and portions of northeast Louisiana, including El Dorado.
Communities along Interstate 20, including Shreveport, Bossier City, Longview, and Marshall, should prepare for another afternoon of intense heat. Those working or exercising outdoors should drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day. Motorists should also remain alert for rapidly developing thunderstorms that could reduce visibility and create slick roads.
While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, any thunderstorm will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty winds, and brief heavy rainfall. Heat will remain the primary concern through the afternoon, with additional weather updates possible if storm coverage expands or heat-related advisories become necessary.
