Little Rock, AR – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and ice to much of Arkansas starting early Tuesday, creating hazardous travel conditions across the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Winter Storm Warningremains in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for portions of northern, central, and eastern Arkansas. Snow accumulations are expected to range from 2 to 6 inches, with some areas also receiving a light glaze of ice.
The heaviest snowfall is forecast for Marion, Baxter, Fulton, Sharp, and Randolph counties, where totals could reach 4 to 6 inches. Areas further south, including Little Rock, Conway, and Searcy, may see up to 2 inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch.
Officials warn that travel could be treacherous, especially during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to carry an emergency kit with food, water, and a flashlight.
