Little Rock, Ark. – Parts of Arkansas are bracing for more rounds of thunderstorms Friday into Saturday, with flash flooding, damaging winds, and quarter-inch hail posing the biggest threats.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall covers most of the state today, particularly from Fort Smith to Pine Bluff and up through Little Rock and Searcy. That risk drops to Marginal on Saturday, but wet grounds from earlier storms raise the chance of river flooding and localized flash flooding.

Between now and Wednesday, rainfall totals of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected across the state, with the heaviest potential in northeast and central Arkansas, including Jonesboro, Searcy, and West Memphis. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s across much of southern and central Arkansas Friday, adding instability that may fuel stronger storms.

Isolated severe thunderstorms today could produce wind gusts exceeding 60 mph and hail up to a quarter inch, particularly in western counties like Polk, Sebastian, and Scott. Travelers should avoid flooded roadways and secure loose outdoor items.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue in waves through midweek. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as conditions evolve.
