Tulsa, Oklahoma – Scattered downpours could trigger flash flooding across northeast Oklahoma through Sunday as pockets of heavy rain move across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, widespread totals between 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected, with isolated areas—especially around Tulsa, Fort Smith, and Muskogee—possibly receiving up to 3 inches by Sunday night. The heaviest rain is likely Friday and Saturday.

Localized flash flooding and quick runoff could develop, especially in areas recently soaked by earlier storms. Key highways, low-lying roads, and creeks may become hazardous. Mainstem river flooding is also possible if storms linger.

Communities such as Bartlesville, Miami, and Fayetteville are also in the marginal to slight risk zone for excessive rainfall. Emergency managers urge residents to stay weather-aware, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor updates throughout the weekend.

Rain won’t fall non-stop, but any stronger storm cells could produce intense rainfall over short periods. Motorists are advised to plan travel around dry periods and keep emergency supplies ready.

Weather alerts remain active through Sunday, with further advisories possible as conditions evolve.
