Little Rock, Arkansas – Heat and bone-dry weather are about to grip Arkansas, sending temperatures into the upper 80s and pushing fire danger higher across the state. Central and southern counties, including Little Rock, Monticello, and El Dorado, will see highs close to 90°F through Saturday, while overnight lows dip to the low 60s in the north and mid-60s to near 70°F in the south.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, persistent high pressure means nearly zero chance of meaningful rainfall this week. With precipitation all but absent and the ground rapidly drying, wildfire risk has climbed to moderate for at least a dozen southern counties from Miller to Ashley and over to Lincoln, Bradley, and Desha. Emergency managers warn that fires can start and spread quickly in these conditions—outdoor burning is discouraged and residents should take extra care with grills, vehicles, and any spark-producing equipment.

Daytime heating will make afternoons uncomfortable but not extreme, with Russellville, Hot Springs, and Pine Bluff all seeing highs in the mid to upper 80s. The lack of clouds and wind means little relief until next weekend. Drivers and outdoor workers should watch for dusty roads and reduced air quality, while farmers are urged to monitor pastures and equipment.

This stretch of dry weather is expected to last through Saturday morning at least, with additional fire danger advisories possible if no rain materializes.
