Arkansas residents are urged to prepare for severe weather Sunday as the National Weather Service forecasts an enhanced risk across central and southern parts of the state. Areas along the I-30 corridor, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Texarkana, could face damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

The NOAA Storm Prediction Center warns that a powerful squall line is expected to develop Sunday afternoon, bringing wind gusts of up to 70 mph and isolated tornadoes. The storms are projected to continue into the evening, with reduced visibility after sunset creating hazardous conditions.

Emergency officials recommend securing outdoor items, charging devices, and ensuring access to multiple weather alerts. “These storms could turn dangerous quickly,” officials said. “Stay vigilant and know your safety plan in advance.”

Heavy rain is also expected across the state, increasing the risk of localized flooding. Drivers along I-40, I-30, and surrounding roadways should anticipate reduced visibility and slippery conditions.

The five-day forecast shows a shift to cooler and drier weather by Monday, with highs in the upper 40s and lows dipping near freezing in the early week. Sunny skies are expected to return by Tuesday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather.gov for real-time updates and prepare ahead of Sunday’s storms to ensure safety for themselves and their families.
