Fayetteville, AR – A confirmed tornado was reported southeast of Lowell early Saturday morning, prompting a tornado warning for parts of Benton, Madison, Carroll, and Washington counties. The storm, moving northeast at 45 mph, caused significant damage as it passed through the area.
According to the National Weather Service, the tornado, which touched down at approximately 1:17 AM CDT, was accompanied by quarter-sized hail and flying debris. Reports from local media confirmed the presence of a damaging twister, with homes, vehicles, and trees expected to sustain significant damage.
The warning remained in effect until 1:45 AM CDT, affecting key areas including Springdale, Rogers, Fayetteville, and Beaver Lake. Residents in these regions were urged to seek immediate shelter in basements or interior rooms away from windows. Mobile homes and vehicles were particularly vulnerable, with warnings to move to substantial shelters.
Interstate 49, between mile markers 69 and 81, was also impacted by the storm’s path, with road closures and hazards reported. Authorities continue to assess the damage as residents begin to recover.
