Arkansas Spring Weather Alert: Strong Storms, 2-Inch Rainfall and Flooding Threat for I-30 Corridor Through Wednesday

Little Rock, Ark. – A slow-moving storm system is drenching parts of Arkansas this week, bringing flash flooding threats, quarter-sized hail, and strong wind gusts into Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Flood Watch remains in effect for southern and central Arkansas through Wednesday. Rainfall totals may exceed 2 inches in isolated areas, particularly along I-30 and I-40, with locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and heed the warning: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

A Marginal Risk for severe weather (Level 1 of 5) remains in place Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night for southwestern and south-central counties. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail around one inch in diameter. The tornado risk is considered low.

Storms are expected to taper off early Wednesday, but scattered showers may linger through midday. Temperatures will hover in the mid-70s with cloudy skies and light winds.
