Arkansas – A prolonged winter storm brought widespread snowfall across Arkansas from January 23 through January 26, with top totals reaching one foot, according to compiled storm reports.

The highest snowfall totals reported in the state were 12.0 inches, observed at Mount Nebo State Park, Siloam Springs, and Witts Springs, making them the snowiest reported locations in Arkansas during the multi-day event. Several additional communities across northern and western Arkansas recorded totals near or above 11 inches, highlighting the storm’s broad impact.

Among other high-end reports, 11.0 inches were measured at NWS Little Rock, as well as in Oak Grove (2 miles north), Omaha (1 mile south-southeast), and Pea Ridge (1 mile southwest). Decatur (1 mile west) reported 10.5 inches, while Rogers (1 mile northeast) measured 10.0 inches.

Snowfall totals were highest across northwestern and central Arkansas, where prolonged snowfall and colder temperatures allowed accumulations to build steadily. Farther east, totals decreased sharply, with West Memphis reporting 4.0 inches, reflecting the storm’s tight gradient near the Mississippi River.

Snow accumulated over multiple days rather than falling in a single burst, extending travel impacts and taxing road crews. Major routes including Interstates 40, 49, and U.S. Highway 62 experienced periods of slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly overnight and during early morning hours.

Cleanup operations continued after snowfall ended as cold temperatures limited melting, allowing snowpack to persist on secondary roads, bridges, and shaded areas. Narrowed roadways and lingering slick spots remained concerns even after precipitation ended.

The January 23–26 storm ranks among the most significant snow events of the season for Arkansas, especially for northern and western portions of the state, contributing meaningfully to seasonal snowfall totals.
