Benton County, AR – Residents across Benton County are being warned about a new wave of fraudulent package delivery messages, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. The alert, issued Sunday, highlights unsolicited texts and emails impersonating major delivery carriers such as the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS.

According to the sheriff’s office, the messages claim there is a problem with a delivery and instruct recipients to click a link to resolve the issue. The link redirects users to a website designed to look legitimate but is controlled by scammers. Officials say the sites typically prompt victims to enter credit card details under the guise of paying a small redelivery fee.

Deputies warn that the scam’s true aim is to obtain credit card numbers and potentially additional personal information. Residents are urged not to click on any link included in these messages and instead verify delivery issues directly through the official website of the shipping carrier.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that these messages are often unsolicited and designed to create a sense of urgency, making victims more likely to respond without verifying authenticity.

Anyone who receives such a message is encouraged to delete it immediately and avoid entering any personal information. Reports of similar scams have been rising nationwide as package shipments increase during the holiday season.
