Little Rock, AR – A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for most of central and northern Arkansas from Friday morning through Friday evening, as gusty winds and low humidity create high fire danger conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts over 35 mph are expected, combined with humidity levels around 20%, significantly increasing the risk of wildfires. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
Several counties are also under burn bans, primarily in the eastern and southern parts of the state, where conditions remain high to extreme for fire danger. Residents are urged to avoid any activities that could spark a fire, such as campfires, debris burning, and outdoor grilling in dry, grassy areas.
The Red Flag Warning is set to expire Friday evening, but fire risk may persist if dry and windy conditions continue. Residents should stay informed through official updates from the NWS and local emergency management offices.
