Little Rock, AR — A dangerous heatwave continues across Arkansas, with Little Rock and surrounding areas experiencing scorching temperatures. Heat indices are expected to peak between 100°F and 107°F today. A heat advisory is in effect for the Arkansas River Valley, including Russellville and Fort Smith, where conditions are particularly hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service, parts of the state, especially near the I-40 corridor, could see isolated thunderstorms this evening. Northern Arkansas is most likely to experience rain, with only a 20% chance of showers across other regions.

Residents should take immediate precautions by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity during peak heat. If you’re traveling along I-40 or throughout central Arkansas, keep an eye on road conditions as thunderstorms could cause slick roads in the late afternoon.

Temperatures will remain high over the weekend, with highs of 94°F Saturday and only slight relief Sunday. By midweek, cooler temperatures and potential rain may offer a break from the heatwave.
