Shreveport, LA – A tropical wave located over the Yucatan Peninsula is expected to move into the Bay of Campeche by the weekend. This system, currently disorganized, could develop into a tropical depression by early next week, bringing heavy rainfall to the Ark-La-Tex region.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Shreveport, forecast models show that conditions in the Gulf of Mexico are conducive for gradual storm development. As of Saturday morning, the system has a 60% chance of forming within the next seven days.
The main concern is the risk of flash flooding in the Four State Region, which includes parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The NWS warns that while it’s early, residents should prepare for possible severe weather.
Residents are urged to monitor updates throughout the weekend and into next week, as forecasts could change as the system strengthens. Stay alert for flood warnings and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
