Flagstaff, AZ – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and high winds to northern Arizona, with hazardous travel conditions expected through Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, snowfall will begin early Thursday, with accumulations of 3 to 6 inches in the Western Mogollon Rim, including Flagstaff, Williams, and Munds Park. Winds will gust between 40 and 50 mph, potentially downing tree branches and reducing visibility. The storm is expected to impact the Thursday morning commute.

In the Kaibab Plateau, including Jacob Lake and Fredonia, snow will begin late Wednesday and continue through Thursday night, accumulating between 5 to 10 inches above 6,500 feet. Wind gusts up to 45 mph could create blowing snow and treacherous road conditions.

Drivers are urged to use caution and check az511.gov for road closures. Snow-covered roads and icy overpasses will make travel dangerous, and low visibility may further complicate driving.

Officials recommend delaying travel if possible and preparing for winter conditions with extra blankets, food, and emergency supplies. The storm is expected to clear by late Thursday night.
