Phoenix, Arizona – Air quality concerns ramp up Thursday as Phoenix faces an Ozone High Pollution Advisory and spring heat peaks in the low 90s.
According to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), the advisory covers Maricopa County, including the Phoenix metro, and remains in effect throughout Thursday. Officials warn ozone concentrations could reach unhealthy levels, especially for children, seniors, and people with respiratory conditions.
Residents should limit outdoor activity, particularly between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., when ozone levels typically spike. Use of gasoline-powered tools and outdoor exercise is discouraged during these hours. Commuters are urged to carpool, use public transit, or work remotely if possible.
Thursday’s high will reach near 92°F under mostly sunny skies, with calm southwest winds shifting to the west in the evening. Friday continues the warming trend, also reaching 92°F, with clear skies and dry conditions.
The extended spring forecast holds steady through the weekend:
- Saturday: Sunny, high near 91°F, south-southwest winds up to 10 mph
- Sunday: Sunny and cooler, high around 87°F, breezy in the afternoon
- Monday: High of 87°F with light southwest wind, staying dry
- Tuesday: High near 81°F, slight cooling trend continues
