Denver, Colorado – Storms could pound Denver on Thursday afternoon with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms just in time for the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms begins after 3 p.m. Thursday and could continue into the night. Lightning and gusty winds are possible, especially along I-25 through Denver, where slick roads and low visibility may delay travel. Winds will shift from the southwest to east during the day, then calm slightly overnight.

Thursday’s high will reach 61°F before dipping to 43°F after sunset as the system exits eastward. Residents should secure outdoor items and prepare for potential brief power outages.

By Friday, sunshine returns, and temperatures rise to 68°F, giving way to a dry and mild end to the workweek. Saturday marks a spring warm-up, with highs near 78°F and only a slight chance of a lingering morning shower. Sunday continues the trend, reaching 79°F under mostly sunny skies.

However, early next week brings another round of spring instability. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday and Tuesday, with daily highs falling back to the low 60s.

5-Day Denver Outlook:

  • Thursday: Showers, storms after 3 p.m. High 61°F
  • Friday: Sunny and calm. High 68°F
  • Saturday: Slight chance of morning showers. High 78°F
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny. High near 79°F
  • Monday: Thunderstorms likely. High near 74°F
