Tucson, AZ — A late-October heatwave is set to bring record-breaking temperatures to Tucson this weekend, with highs reaching 100°F by Saturday. Residents are advised to take precautions as the heat peaks, making outdoor activities potentially dangerous. The forecast predicts clear skies and intense sunshine, with Southeast winds keeping conditions dry.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high is expected to reach 98°F, continuing into a sweltering weekend. If temperatures hit 100°F on Saturday, it will mark the latest triple-digit day on record, surpassing the previous record of October 20, 2023. Authorities recommend staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking air-conditioned environments.

Those traveling on I-10 should be aware of potential heat-related hazards, such as overheating vehicles and tire blowouts. Drivers should carry water and ensure their cars are properly maintained.

Sunday will see slightly cooler temperatures, with a high of 99°F. By Monday, relief is on the way with a high of 94°F, followed by a significant drop on Tuesday when a cold front moves in. The cold front will bring gusty winds up to 35 mph, along with temperatures dropping as much as 20 degrees by midweek.

The weather shift will provide much-needed relief, with Tuesday’s high expected to reach only 74°F. By Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will stay in the mid-70s, offering a taste of fall at last.
