Ann Arbor, MI — An 86-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning at the intersection of Barber Avenue and Ravenwood Avenue in Ann Arbor. The incident occurred around 12:22 a.m. when police responded to a 911 call reporting a pedestrian crash.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, officers arrived on the scene within minutes and discovered the elderly woman lying unresponsive in the roadway. Emergency lifesaving measures were immediately initiated by the responding officers, who were soon joined by the Ann Arbor Fire Department (AAFD) and Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA). Despite their continued efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the University of Michigan Emergency Room.
The driver involved in the crash, a 22-year-old Ann Arbor woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Police have stated that alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the incident.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The Ann Arbor Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
