Amarillo, TX – The Texas Panhandle is preparing for another week of extreme heat as a strong high-pressure system drives temperatures into the triple digits. The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a warning that many areas, including Amarillo, Borger, and Wellington, could see maximum temperatures above 100°F over the next several days. Sunday’s forecast shows a 100% chance of triple-digit temperatures in Borger and Wellington, with other locations like Amarillo and Beaver also experiencing significant heat.
According to the National Weather Service, this persistent heat wave has the potential to trigger Heat Advisories across multiple days. Residents are advised to take precautions, such as staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
Heat safety remains a priority, with warnings against leaving children or pets unattended in vehicles and reminders to check on elderly neighbors. This intense heat wave is expected to continue through Sunday, August 25, with little relief in sight for the Panhandle region.
