Alsip Police Arrest Chicago Man in Connection to Jan. 3 Apartment Shooting

Alsip, IL – A 19-year-old Chicago man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly firing 10 rounds into an Alsip apartment building on Jan. 3.

Police responded to several 911 calls around 10 p.m. that night reporting gunfire in the 11800 block of Karlov Avenue. Officers arrived to secure the scene and began gathering evidence. Witnesses described a vehicle leaving the area, and another officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle traveling eastbound on 123rd Street.

When officers attempted to follow, the suspect sped off, initiating a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into another vehicle in Blue Island, where officers arrested him.

According to Alsip police, evidence and intelligence linked the suspect, Dante M. Harbin, to the gunfire. Police recovered key evidence at the scene that tied him to the incident.

Harbin now faces multiple charges, including aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding. Police allege Harbin’s reckless driving caused damage during the chase.

Authorities emphasize the importance of public safety and credited their quick response and investigative work for the arrest. The department encouraged residents to report suspicious activity immediately.
