Albuquerque, NM – Albuquerque residents are bracing for hot, dry conditions lasting through Sunday, with highs projected to reach up to 11 degrees above the historical averages. The heat wave is expected to peak this weekend, creating potentially hazardous outdoor conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will range from 89 to 96 degrees through Sunday. Breezy conditions, with gusts up to 40 mph, will exacerbate the dry heat. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and secure loose outdoor items due to the wind.
Subtropical moisture is forecast to return early next week, bringing chances of wetting precipitation by Monday, especially in central and western areas of New Mexico. This relief could help ease the high fire danger currently affecting the region.
