Albany, New York – A warming trend is expected across eastern New York this weekend and into early next week after cloudy conditions linger Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, mainly cloudy and dry weather will continue across the region Friday following early morning mixed precipitation.
High temperatures Friday are expected to range from the mid-30s to low 40s, with overcast skies across much of the Capital Region.
Conditions begin to change Saturday as milder air moves into eastern New York, bringing increasing cloud cover and the possibility of scattered showers later in the day.
Cities including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga Springs, and Glens Falls could see showers develop during the Saturday afternoon and evening hours.
Forecasters say a brief rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, especially in areas north and west of Albany.
High temperatures Saturday are expected to climb into the mid-40s to mid-50s, marking the start of a warmer pattern across the region.
Sunday will bring continued mild weather, with partly sunny skies and highs ranging from the upper 40s to mid-50s.
The warming trend continues into early next week as temperatures rise even further.
Highs on Monday and Tuesday are expected to reach the 50s and potentially mid-60s, which could be up to 20 degrees above normal for early March.
Drivers traveling along major routes such as Interstate 87, Interstate 90, and Interstate 787 may encounter occasional wet roads Saturday if showers develop.
