Alachua County, FL – A 26-year-old Alachua County man is facing dozens of felony charges after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation uncovered alleged online child exploitation activity earlier this week.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the ICAC Task Force received a CyberTip on Monday, January 26, alerting investigators to a subject allegedly sharing illegal child sexual abuse material online and exchanging funds in connection with the activity.
Detective J. Finch identified the social media account linked to the CyberTip and traced it to Trinity Johnson, 26, an Alachua County resident. Investigators say Johnson allegedly had a personal connection to one of the victims depicted, raising concerns about the potential for continued victimization.
On Thursday, January 29, law enforcement officers located Johnson at a residence in northwest Alachua County, according to officials. After making contact and conducting questioning, Detective Finch arrested Johnson, who was then transported to the Alachua County Jail.
Johnson is charged with 64 counts of Distribution of Child Pornography, 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, two counts of Manufacturing Child Pornography, and one count of Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony. All charges are felonies.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that crimes involving child exploitation are treated with the highest priority and said the investigation remains active. No additional details are being released at this time to protect the integrity of the case and those involved.
Authorities encourage residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activity involving children to law enforcement or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
