Huntsville, AL – Dangerous spring weather is set to impact Huntsville and surrounding areas through Sunday, bringing severe storms, heavy rain, and high winds. A tornado watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday, with a flood watch and wind advisory lasting through Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple rounds of thunderstorms will continue overnight and throughout Saturday, some capable of producing damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. Flash flooding is a significant concern, with rainfall totals between 3 to 4 inches expected, and some areas seeing more than 7 inches. Winds will gust up to 40 mph, potentially downing trees and causing power outages.

Residents should avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding and secure outdoor objects due to strong winds. Those in mobile homes or weaker structures should prepare for the possibility of tornado warnings. Travel conditions could become hazardous, especially along major roadways like I-565 and US-72.

Looking ahead, Sunday will see lingering showers before conditions clear. Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, is expected to be sunny with highs in the upper 50s, followed by a warming trend into the 70s by midweek.

Stay updated on weather alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings. If conditions worsen, be prepared to take immediate action.
