Huntsville, AL – North Alabama residents should prepare for a wet weekend as a slow-moving weather system brings increasing rain and thunderstorm chances to Huntsville starting Friday night.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday will remain mostly cloudy with highs near 80°F. Winds will pick up in the afternoon, gusting up to 15 mph. By Friday night, a 40 percent chance of showers moves in, becoming more likely through Saturday and into Sunday.
Saturday brings a high near 77°F with a 70 percent chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The threat continues into Sunday with more storms possible after 1 p.m. Sunday night holds the highest risk, with a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Drivers along I-565 and commuters across Madison County should use caution, especially during the Saturday night to early Monday window when heavy downpours and reduced visibility are expected.
Looking ahead, Monday clears slightly with a 50 percent chance of early showers, followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 72°F.
Temperatures remain mild through midweek, with highs near 79°F and only a slight chance of additional showers Tuesday and Wednesday.
