Birmingham, AL – Rain is expected to roll into Central Alabama tonight, bringing cooler temperatures just in time for Thanksgiving. Commuters along I-65 should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will develop after 9 p.m. and continue through early Tuesday morning. Rainfall totals are expected to remain under a quarter of an inch, with a 60% chance of precipitation. Temperatures tonight will dip to 48°F, and southwest winds of 5-10 mph will make it feel even cooler.

Tuesday will bring clearing skies, with highs around 59°F and lighter winds from the north. For Wednesday, expect sunny skies with highs near 62°F. However, showers are likely to return Wednesday night into Thanksgiving morning, accompanied by a potential thunderstorm. Rain chances sit at 80% overnight into Thursday.

Thanksgiving Day will remain cloudy, with lingering rain tapering off after noon. Temperatures will reach 62°F before plummeting Thursday night to a brisk 37°F. Friday will be the coldest day of the week, with a high of 49°F and lows near 30°F overnight.

Motorists should remain cautious during rain events, especially during peak holiday travel times. If you’re planning outdoor activities this Thanksgiving, monitor forecasts and plan for cooler, wet conditions early in the day.
