Birmingham, AL – Chances for showers and thunderstorms are increasing across central Alabama today, with forecasters warning that storm coverage could be greater than what the area has experienced in recent days.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, rain and thunderstorms will become more widespread through Sunday afternoon and may linger into the evening hours. Forecasters noted that scattered showers will be possible throughout the region, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Anniston.

Highs today are expected to reach the lower to mid-90s in many areas, with Birmingham forecast at 92 degrees, Tuscaloosa at 95, and Montgomery at 93. Cooler temperatures are expected tonight, with lows dipping into the mid-to-upper 60s.

The unsettled pattern will continue into Monday, when additional showers and storms are expected across much of the state. Afternoon highs Monday are forecast in the upper 80s to low 90s, with rain chances persisting through the day.

While severe weather is not the primary concern, residents are advised to monitor conditions closely, especially during the evening commute when showers and storms may still be active. Rain could bring brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning.
