Montgomery, AL – Severe weather swept through Alabama on Saturday, leaving at least two people dead and causing widespread destruction across the state.
According to Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, fatalities were reported in Plantersville and Winterboro, while storm damage has been confirmed in 52 of Alabama’s 67 counties. The extent of the destruction is still being assessed as emergency responders work to clear debris and restore essential services.
“Our damage assessment continues,” Ivey said in a statement. “We pray for those lives we lost, as well as those who were injured. And we pray for our first responders, emergency management officials, and linemen who are doing incredible work on the ground right now.”
Residents are urged to stay updated on emergency alerts and report any damage to local authorities. Crews are currently working to restore power and assess infrastructure damage in the hardest-hit areas.
Authorities advise caution while traveling through affected regions due to debris and potential hazards. More updates are expected as assessments continue.
