Grand Junction, CO – A winter storm is set to impact Colorado beginning Monday night, bringing significant snowfall, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday. Mountain regions are expected to see the heaviest accumulation, with some areas likely receiving over a foot of snow.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, snowfall probabilities indicate a high likelihood of six or more inches in mountain regions, including Telluride, Steamboat Springs, Aspen, and Edwards. Telluride has the highest probability, with up to a 98% chance of six or more inches and an 80% probability of exceeding 12 inches.

The storm will be accompanied by strong winds, reducing visibility and creating treacherous driving conditions. Motorists traveling through high-elevation routes such as I-70 and mountain passes are advised to use extreme caution and prepare for delays. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) recommends carrying winter travel essentials, including tire chains, blankets, and emergency supplies.

This storm follows a series of winter weather systems that have already brought substantial snowfall to the region this season. Ski resorts are expected to benefit from the fresh snow, but backcountry travelers should be aware of increased avalanche risk.

Residents and travelers are encouraged to stay updated with NWS alerts and check road conditions before heading out. More snowfall updates will be provided as the storm progresses.
