Huntsville, Ala. – Drivers, outdoor workers, and families across northern Alabama face dangerous heat this weekend, with triple-digit heat index values stretching into early next week. Temperatures in Huntsville will push into the upper 90s by Monday, raising the risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Saturday and Sunday will each reach about 95 degrees, but humidity will make it feel closer to 103 and 104. The hottest stretch arrives Monday, with a high near 97 under clear skies. Light winds offer little relief, and overnight lows will linger in the mid-70s, keeping little chance for cooling.

Madison County officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity during the afternoon and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers are expected to open across Huntsville and nearby communities as the heat wave builds. Families heading to Redstone Arsenal or outdoor events should carry water and take breaks in shade.

Relief begins midweek when storm chances increase. Scattered thunderstorms are expected by Wednesday afternoon, bringing lower highs in the upper 80s to low 90s through Friday.

Warnings remain in effect through Monday, with additional advisories possible if the heat intensifies.
