Mobile, AL – An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect for parts of Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast Mississippi until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills as low as 3°F expected.
The National Weather Service warns that areas including Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, and Santa Rosa counties, as well as nearby regions, will experience dangerously low temperatures. Prolonged exposure to these conditions could result in frostbite or hypothermia. Additionally, freezing temperatures could cause water pipes to rupture.
Residents are advised to dress in layers if venturing outdoors, including hats, gloves, and face masks. Pets should be brought indoors, and outdoor animals should have access to warm shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Precautions should also be taken with portable heaters to prevent fire hazards, and generators should never be used indoors to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
