Mobile, AL – Strong gusts are sweeping across portions of south-central and southwest Alabama and southeast Mississippi today as the National Weather Service issues a Wind Advisory in effect until 7 p.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, sustained southeast winds between 20 to 25 mph with gusts reaching up to 40 mph are expected to persist throughout the afternoon. Affected areas include Mobile, Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, and Monroe counties in Alabama, as well as Wayne, Perry, Greene, Stone, and George counties in Mississippi.

Officials warn that the high winds could cause unsecured objects to be blown around and tree limbs to fall, potentially leading to scattered power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use extra caution on roadways due to the risk of swaying and reduced control from gusts.

Residents in cities such as Mobile, Gulf Shores, Lucedale, and Wiggins are advised to secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, and other loose items that could become airborne. Utility crews are also on standby for potential service interruptions caused by fallen limbs or other wind-related hazards.

The advisory is part of a broader pattern of unsettled weather moving through the Gulf Coast region, with meteorologists monitoring the system for any signs of intensification or associated severe weather risks.

For the latest updates, residents should monitor local news and the National Weather Service channels.
