Canaan Valley, WV – The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Eastern Tucker County, including the towns of Davis, Thomas, and Canaan Valley, in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon, December 10–11, 2025.

Forecasters warn of a strong winter storm system that could bring up to 6 inches of snow, along with wind gusts up to 50 mph. The combination of heavy snow and high winds may lead to low visibility, slick roads, and scattered power outages due to downed tree branches and power lines.

Snow will begin early Wednesday and persist through Thursday, with the most intense conditions expected Wednesday afternoon and evening. Mountain passes and exposed ridgelines are likely to experience drifting snow and hazardous travel.

Drivers should prepare for difficult road conditions, especially along U.S. Route 219 and through Canaan Valley State Park.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, ensure emergency supplies are ready, and monitor the latest forecasts as a Winter Storm Warning may be issued later.
